ТОКЕ (Trans-Onego Kite Enduro)

"Trans-Onego" is an annual international winter snowkite extra long distance enduro on the ice of Lake Onega, Republic of Karelia, Russia. The competition was first held in 2012. Initially, the competition was held in the format of a three-day autonomous race along a route defined by the organizers with two independent overnight stays in field conditions on the ice of Lake Onega. However, since 2019, at the request of the participants, the format has been changed to a four-day with three nights.

The route is about 300 km long is laid through the most interesting and picturesque places of Lake Onega, famous for its history: the islands of Kizhi, Suisar, the Shardon Islands, the Kondopoga Bay, the Yalgora ski complex, Pyalma, Chelmuzhskaya Bay, Medvezhyegorsk. The marathon usually starts and finishes at the central embankment of Petrozavodsk.

In 2020, for the first time in its long history, Lake Onega was not covered with ice. However, Karelia - "the land of a thousand lakes" provided organizers and participants with the opportunity to hold a full-fledged marathon on Lake Sandal, discovering new unique natural and historical sites, such as Lychny Island with the Church of Peter and Paul, built in 1620.

Teams of two independently transporting their sports and camping gear in fully autonomous racing mode. Competitions are held regardless of weather conditions, which allows participants to show their skills in various wind and temperature conditions, overcoming, if necessary, snow drifts, hummocking zones and water exits through ice cracks.

TOKE has been confirmed by the World Ice and Snow Sailing Association as the World Super Long Distance Kiting Championship in 2016, 2018 and 2020. In 2016, TOKE also became the first of three stages of the WISSA World Cup.
